Literacy Impact Award

The Literacy Impact Award recognizes exceptional community-driven initiatives that promote literacy and reading engagement for Ohioans of all ages outside of traditional K-12 educational settings.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Initiatives must be based in Ohio and focus on expanding literacy opportunities.
  2. The award can be given to individuals or organizations.

  3. Eligible programs must:

    • operate independently of formal school systems

    • demonstrate creative and impactful approaches to literacy enhancement

    • directly engage community members in reading, writing, or language skills development

Part of the nomination process involves gathering information from the individual or organization. Nominators will need to provide a minimum of 3 artifacts that demonstrate how the individual or organization promotes literacy and reading engagement for Ohioans of all ages outside of traditional K-12 educational settings. Possible examples include data, written or video statements from beneficiaries/participants, annual impact reports, and news stories. 

Winners will be recognized at the 2026 OCTELA Conference which will take place February 20-21 at Cherry Valley Hotel.

Nominations are due AUGUST 31, 2025.
