Meet the OJELA Editorial Team

OJELA Editor

Stephanie Reid (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Literacy and Second Language Studies program in the School of Education at the University of Cincinnati. She is a first-generation college student from Rochester, England. Stephanie studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge and then secondary English education at the University of Oxford. She achieved her MA in Education and K-12 Reading Teacher endorsement at Hamline University (St. Paul, MN) and her doctoral degree at Arizona State University (2020).

Before pursuing her doctoral degree, Stephanie taught grades 6-12 students English in England (3 years) and middle grade students Language Arts and/or Reading in Wisconsin (12 years). She has published her scholarship across various venues, including The Reading Teacher, Written Communication, the Journal of Language and Literacy, and Voices from the Middle. Much of her research takes her back into middle school ELA spaces. Stephanie is excited to contribute to the OCTELA community through the editorship of OJELA and looks forward to connecting with ELA teachers, literacy specialists, and researchers across Ohio!

Editorial Team

Jill Ceneskie (she/her) is an AP English teacher at Olentangy High School. She earned a BA in Theatre from Otterbein University, later returning to her studies to obtain her MA in Education for Secondary Language Arts from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She has also supplemented her studies with Media Specialist courses at Kent State University.

Throughout her career, Jill has found spaces to share her voice both through publication in NCTE’s English Journal and at various conferences including NCTE’s annual conventions. She is thrilled at the opportunity to create space for more voices to be heard through OJELA by building a community of educator-writers here.

Want to join the OJELA team?

If you are interested in serving as a peer reviewer or an editorial board team member for the future OJELA editions, please reach out to Dr. Stephanie Reid (ojela@myoctela.org). She is excited to discuss these opportunities with you!

Ultimately, the editorial board team will assist the editor in deciding which manuscripts or creative works are accepted for publication in OJELA.
